Serving a Growing Campus

The Academic Technology Commons promotes creativity, collaboration, and innovation via access to state-of-the-art technologies and a variety of highly visible and branded workspaces.

The Challenge

Built in 1959, the Saint Louis University Pius XII Memorial Library houses more than 1.3 million volumes across 215,000 SF. In 2016, the University re-imagined the heart of this facility to respond to the growing imperatives of easy access to high-quality support of current and cutting-edge technology on campus.

With a new peer-based service model that represents a truly integrated blend of IT and Library services, the ATC re-energizes the physical and intellectual heart of the SLU campus.

Innovation Studio

This space includes visualization tools such as a 10-point touch-enabled 85” interactive display, a hologram projector, and virtual 3D modeling, and advanced fabrication equipment such as 3D printers and laser cutters.

Flexible Collaboration Space

One-on-one consultation rooms and multiple small group collaboration studios offer flexible, technology-infused spaces that meet a wide variety of working preferences: alone, together, and together alone.
