Largest Indoor Aquatic Facility in the US

Four decades ago, Indiana University’s Natatorium stood as a symbol of aquatic excellence, hosting prestigious events and setting world records. However, as time took its toll on the facility, aging infrastructure posed challenges. Through a comprehensive renovation, the Natatorium secured its position as the nation’s premier venue for aquatic sports, ensuring its continued legacy of excellence.

Health & Wellbeing

As the project unfolded, our objectives remained clear: to improve water and air quality while enhancing aesthetics. We completed roof repairs, lighting upgrades, and modernized HVAC and plumbing systems. Visitors were greeted with notable enhancements, including broader diving platforms, revamped seating, skylights, and energy-efficient LED lighting replacing the former yellow hue.

Officials collaborated with students from Herron School of Art and Design to spearhead an ambitious sustainability initiative, aiming to recycle or compost at least 90 percent of the facility’s waste. This effort resulted in the Natatorium becoming Indiana’s inaugural sports venue to first achieve zero waste.
