The Butterfly Effect
Mariposa VII represents the culmination of a two-decade urban revitalization effort. It provides 45 affordable apartments and four townhomes in a multi-generational living environment, fostering wellness and community interaction. At the urban scale, the building creates a memorable silhouette at both the sky and grade as a new landmark at the neighborhood transit stop.
Connection to the District
The Mariposa District is a quilting of new and old, bordering the Santa Fe Arts District, the University of Colorado Denver’s downtown campus, Denver’s Central Business District, RTD’s Light Rail and the existing south Lincoln neighborhood. The design leverages the urban condition; the building plan and color-infused details provide an energetic contributor to an important center-city neighborhood. Featuring gardens, a play area, and accessible transit on the ground floor, residents are encouraged to engage with neighbors and the surrounding community.
Upholding DHA’s commitment to environmental responsibility, the building design employs both active and passive sustainability strategies, including solar shading, a photovoltaic rooftop array, and geo-thermal systems.
