The Big Ten Experience
The Big Ten Conference, with 14 member institutions and 280 national championships, required a new headquarters to accommodate nearly 200 meetings annually and offices for 40 full-time employees who organize over 1200 events each year. The resulting facility, characterized by its warm terra cotta exterior, seamlessly blends the organization’s academic and athletic identity with the professionalism of a corporate headquarters.
Massing & Materiality
The striking contrast of warm terra cotta against the bold structural lines creates a visually captivating presence, enhanced by the bright red-orange hue and smooth finish, setting the building apart in its environment. With terra cotta panels serving as a rainscreen, their natural color variations add depth and intrigue to the architectural design.
Big Ten Experience
The ground floor features the Big Ten Experience, a 3,500 SF interactive attraction celebrating the organization’s 120-year history in college athletics.
