RATIO Design announces the next evolution in its leadership team, elevating two Principals to Partner and appointing four new Studio Leaders. These appointments are a key component of the firm’s strategy to strengthen our ability to elevate our clients’ impact on their communities.
New Partner Appointments
As part of this leadership expansion, RATIO celebrates the elevation of Joseph Barnes and Emily Earle to the Partner.
Joseph Barnes, Director of Business Development, has been with RATIO for 14 years. Originally joining the firm as an architect, Joe transitioned into Business Development where he now leads the firm’s efforts to expand its network and client base.
Emily Earle, K12 Practice Area Leader based in Raleigh, celebrates 11 years with the firm. Emily is a dedicated advocate for educational design, focusing on creating impactful, safe, flexible, and inspiring environments for students and educators.

In addition to the new Partners, RATIO is proud to appoint four new Studio Leaders who will guide their respective regional teams and advance the firm’s vision:
Aracely Nevarez is leading our Chicago, IL, studio. With decades of leadership experience, she advances RATIO’s hospitality, mixed-use, and adaptive reuse practices both within the region and internationally.
Lisa Esterrich is leading our Raleigh, NC, studio. A strong and thoughtful leader in landscape architecture, Lisa elevates our interdisciplinary practice through her ability to connect people, align teams around a shared vision, and craft projects that lift up communities and celebrate heritage while creating meaningful experiences.
Nita Christopher is leading our Champaign, IL, studio. A committed advocate for sustainability, Nita is dedicated to advancing RATIO’s Midwest impact across our K-12, higher ed, healthcare, and community practice areas.
Gabe Bergeron is leading our Denver, CO, studio. Gabe is a passionate designer who places a unique emphasis on culture, both in the process of creation and the resulting built environments. He approaches each project as a collaborative facilitator, engaging the team and infusing the process with curiosity and rigor.
