“I want to understand other people’s experiences.”
Sim Nabors is an interior designer and leader, pushing the firm forward. Sim is an enthusiastic challenger of the status quo. He embraces the mess, chaos, and excitement of finding something new, of taking ideas to a different place. Sim is a natural empath, open to others, and a tireless advocate for greater diversity in all aspects of design and community.
Sim joined the RATIO team in 2008. He’s proud of his team of tight-knit designers and the successes they achieve. For Sim, the design process is a chance to collaborate with brilliant clients and colleagues. His understanding of culture — and how to nurture it — translates well to his specialty: large, complex workplace projects. Sim’s notable corporate headquarters include KAR Global and Zotec Partners.
Growing up in Texas, Missouri, and Kentucky, Sim wasn’t exposed to great architecture. His family’s standard ranch home was full of love — and tchotchkes. His first forays into design began as a rebellion against knickknacks. To this day, Sim seeks simplicity and clean lines. He and his husband are currently renovating their 1950s home. They also enjoy traveling and time with their pups. Sim serves as a board member for The Damien Center, Indiana’s largest AIDS service organization.
