Tom is a firm Principal and Urban Designer with RATIO. In practice for more than 20 years, Tom has built a reputation as a discerning and insightful design thinker and strategist. He has a proven talent for leading projects that present complex challenges that defy expected categorizations. With a keen ability to foster a collaborative atmosphere, Tom pursues a deep understanding of his clients’ values, seeking to inspire meaningful design solutions. Driven by his education in landscape architecture and psychology, Tom is an advocate for built environments that authentically integrate with the local ecology and are designed to enhance the human experience.
Tom is a Professor in Practice of Urban Design in the College of Architecture and Planning at Ball State University, currently writes an urban design column for the Indianapolis Business Journal, and has spoken publicly on place, context sensitive design, complete streets, and design thinking.
