Historical Architectural Designer

RATIO is seeking a motivated and dynamic Historical Architectural Designer to support our team on preservation projects located throughout the country.  We are seeking talented individuals with a passion for preservation to join our growing team in Denver, Indianapolis and/or Raleigh. The qualified candidate will work in close coordination with our existing preservation team on a wide range of historic architectural projects.

Responsibilities

This individual will support work on projects including detailed investigations of historic properties, historic restoration, rehabilitation, adaptive reuse, and compatible new design in historic contexts, as well as, historic rehabilitation tax credits, condition assessments, and Historic Structure Reports.

Qualifications

  • Qualifications in Architecture and Historic Architecture as defined by 36 CFR Part 61, Secretary of the Interior’s Professional Qualifications Standards
  • Preferred experience:
    • Experience in architecture or related design fields with priority given to those with historic preservation forming their primary practice.
    • Experience working with the Secretary of Interior’s Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties
    • Experience with historic architecture-based projects including working with materials conservators, structural and MEP engineers, cultural landscape architects, and civil engineers.
    • Experience documenting historic structures and conditions including Historic Structure Reports and Historic American Buildings Surveys.
    • Experience creating a set of construction documents, and knowledge of contemporary and historic materials, details, and construction methods.
  • Proficiency with Revit and/or AutoCAD, Microsoft Suite, Adobe InDesign and Photoshop.

Education

  • Bachelor’s or Professional Degree in Architecture is required.
  • Master’s degree in architecture, Historic Preservation, Public History, or closely related field is preferred.

Salary is commensurate with experience, location and qualifications: $50,000 – $80,000
